An exploration of Mixed Media and Poetry

Gewalt is a personal exploration of poetry with mixed media photography.

The word Gewalt is German and means violence, in Yiddish however it means strength or force. They both come from the same root in medieval low German, but over the years have developed different connotations.

I wanted to create something deeply raw and unfiltered, stripping the poetry of any clear structure, so they appear on page how they appear in my head. Manic or almost like a whisper of a thought.

My photographs reflect the untamed interior of my emotions, memories and desires.

It is a celebration of one's darkness and everyday aches, longings and obstacles
